CD runs but no sound due to sound being muted or turned down
Cause:
The sound is muted or turned down on the speakers or sound card.
Solution:
Turn off mute, or turn the volume up on the speakers or sound card.
1) Do one or all of the following:
a) To turn off mute:
1] On the right edge of the Task Bar (the bar with the 'Start Button'), look for a speaker icon. This is usually located next to the clock.
2] Click the speaker icon.
3] If the 'Muted' box is checked, clear it to stop muting the sound.
b) To turn the speaker volume up:
1] Locate the volume control on the speakers.]
2] Turn the speaker volume up.
c) To turn the sound card volume up:
1] Locate the volume control on the sound card.
NOTE 1: This is located on the back of the computer. The sound card dial should be located near where the speakers are connected to the computer.
NOTE 2: Not all sound cards have a dial.
2] Turn the sound card volume up.
